Insurance Adjuster Careers, Remote & Field Positions

Adjust This: From Home or On the Road, Insurance Careers

Adjust this??… Unless you have suffered a sudden & accidental fire or water loss in your residence or already have an insurance career, you likely do not know what an insurance adjuster is.

It’s time to learn what an insurance adjuster is the not-so-hard-way. Are you looking for a new career? Do you know someone close to you who is looking for a new job?

You & others can “Adjust this!”

“Adjust This” from Home or the Road

Do you have an interest in working from home? Or, do you prefer to be out & about? Regardless, adjusting property claims is an option for you.

Historically desk adjusters have worked from an office amid an abundance of cubicles. However, since the pandemic, more & more work-from-home adjuster positions are available across the country.

Alternatively, on both carrier-by-carrier & case-by-case bases, field adjusters are needed to meet insureds at their residences to adjust claims.

Work From Home, Property Claims Adjusting

Again, since the pandemic, more & more work-from-home desk adjuster opportunities are available. However, here & there are opportunities to work from a desk but inside an office. There are hybrid desk adjusting opportunities as well.

Desk adjusters assess property insurance claims using documentation, photos, & other supporting information provided by policyholders & specialized restoration vendors. In most cases, desk adjusters handle claims that do not require an in-person inspection of the property that suffered something sudden & accidental.

Desk adjusters utilize phone, email, & virtual communication methods to communicate with policyholders, restoration vendors, & other involved parties.

Since desk adjusters do not travel from property to property in person to adjust claims, desk adjusters often handle a higher volume of claims due to the efficiency of working remotely adjusting claims that can be adjusted as such.

Adjust On the Road, Company Car & More

While field adjusters do adjust on the road meeting with policyholders at their insured properties after something sudden & accidental occurs, chances are that when field adjusters are not on the road they are working at home doing “paperwork.”

Before field adjusters get to doing paperwork (digitally, of course), they conduct physical in-person inspections of the policyholder’s claimed property damage to assess the extent of damages, gather evidence, & to determine the validity of the policyholder’s claim.

Field adjusters directly interact both in-person & remotely with policyholders. In-person interactions with other insurance claim participants including witnesses, restoration vendors, & other relevant parties often occur as well.

Adjusters who are on the road inspecting claims in person often find themselves with a smaller claims volume relative to desk adjusters simply because of travel time. Also, insurance claims requiring a field adjuster are often larger & more in-depth than claims that can be handled from a desk without an in-person field adjuster inspection.
